Today’s meeting focused on goal-setting. Guest speaker Marlu Silva spoke to the 22 present members about her career in reporting and business, emphasizing kindness, humility, and hard work, as well as patience and persistence in achieving one’s goals.
Afterwards, we learned about S.M.A.R.T. goals and how to set them. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym standing for Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Timely, conveying a criteria for preventing vague goals (and therefore vague results). We did a group activity in which we reviewed each other’s goals to ensure they were S.M.A.R.T. and shared ideas regarding how best to achieve each other’s goals.
We are glad to have had Miss Silva here to teach us about proper values in reaching our goals, and to have learned how to set better goals. Next week on 07/09 we'll be learning about Effective Communication with our guest speaker Arlene Quach, a professional leadership coach!
