This weekend’s meeting, the Miss CEO Gilroy Club was set to learn about the power of networking, and we invited Shauna Taylor to speak about the topic. Mrs. Taylor, a surgical supervisor at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, discussed the many unique experiences in her career and journey. Her stories helped us understand the significant role her networking abilities played in helping her get to where she is today and thus the value in proficient networking as a whole.
The activity that followed Mrs. Taylor’s presentation was equally valuable. Members each wrote and declared their main goals on a piece of paper, taping it to the wall. Their fellow attendees then helped by attaching corresponding post-it notes with advice or contacts to help accomplish said goals. In the end, we all got to help each other network and apply our skills to current, real-life goals.
Overall, the session was enlightening as usual! Mrs. Taylor’s profound insights, as well as collaborative group activity, left us feeling knowledgeable and fulfilled. The members also now have a better understanding of networking and how to employ it to their advantage! Next weekend on 7/30, speaker Jennifer Kenny (from the Global Women’s Leadership Network and a CIO of SRI International) will be joining us, as will Miss CEO founder Nita Singh Kaushal, as we explore the topic of dealing with failure.
Special thanks to Shaunna Taylor and Kat Moore for leading the meeting!
