Alas, this Saturday was the final meeting of the Miss CEO Gilroy Club. Though we mourned the end of our weekly sessions, we definitely enjoyed guest speaker Jennifer Kenny’s presentation about Feminine Leadership. Ms. Kenny is a CIO of SRI International and a Member of the Global Women’s Leadership Network.
In her speech, she pointed out the importance of employing alternative leadership styles in order to amplify one’s capability as a leader, and she also explained what traits constituted said styles of leadership. We were able to understand what it meant to be wise women leaders.
Afterwards, the Miss CEO founder Nita Singh Kaushal herself joined us to talk about a separate subject, dealing with failure. The club discussed the aftermaths of failure and how to reframe it to our benefit. We shared our own failures and received advice for how to prepare for failures. Nita’s words struck a chord with all of us, and they will undoubtedly remain valuable well into the future.
In each of every meeting so far, the members of our club have received excellent words of wisdom from qualified speakers on a vast range of life skills, and this week was no different. Great thanks to Jennifer and Nita for finishing off with their own superb and thought-provoking discussions!
Most of all, thanks to the dedicated members who have consistently attended our weekly sessions. We could not have done it without the combined efforts of the coordinators, guest speakers, officers, and of course, you guys! We sincerely hope that you have ended this summer as better goal-setters, negotiators, communicators, and leaders--and that you have become your own Miss CEOs.
